Dereiçi Canyon, which holds a significant place among the natural and historical riches of Kars, is preparing to be brought into tourism through an extensive redevelopment project. The area, where the Kars River flows and historical structures are located, will turn into a major center of attraction for both locals to relax and tourists to visit once the works are completed.
Having been used as a military zone for many years, Dereiçi Canyon could not be fully utilized by large segments of society in the past, but it has recently become a preferred recreational spot for the people of Kars. However, a comprehensive transformation project is being drawn up to unlock the full potential of the region. Within the scope of the project, camellias, children's playgrounds, walking paths, seating groups, and resting areas will be established around the canyon. Additionally, environmental quality will be enhanced with a biological treatment plant, livestock activities will be relocated from the area, and the cleanup of the Kars River is highly anticipated.
