The contract for the "Project to Strengthen the Geographical Indication Quality of Kars Gruyere," approved under the Serhat Development Agency's (SERKA) 2026 Technical Support Program, has been officially signed. The agreement was executed between SERKA Secretary General Nurullah Karaca and Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Kadir Bozan. The initiative aims to establish the scientific, technical, and legal infrastructure to upgrade the registration status of Kars Gruyere from a geographical indication to a protected designation of origin. Within this scope, production processes will be examined on-site to scientifically demonstrate the product's connection to the region's natural characteristics.
