An investigation was launched in Kars after a woman named H.K., who had recently given birth, claimed to authorities that her newborn had died and been buried. Following suspicious inconsistencies, the Kars Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered an exhumation. Initial forensic examinations revealed that the one-day-old baby boy had been suffocated to death after a paper napkin was forced into his mouth
Following the horrific discovery, the mother, H.K., and the grandmother, B.E., were placed under arrest by the court. In their official statements, the two suspects pointed fingers at each other. The mother claimed she realized her mother intended to kill the infant but remained silent out of fear. Conversely, the grandmother alleged that she had suggested surrendering the child to state custody, but her daughter rejected the option and was determined to kill the baby.
