Commemoration ceremonies were held in Kars to mark the 1387th anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, and his 72 companions in Karbala. Thousands of Ahl al-Bayt followers gathered during Tasua Night, the ninth night of Muharram, to recite the Quran, elegies, and prayers throughout the day.

As part of the program, mourning groups from Ahl al-Bayt Işıklı Mosque, Kamer Mosque, and Hazrat Ali Bazaar Mosque, along with local residents, gathered at Hazrat Ali Bazaar Mosque. Participants witnessed a reenactment of the events of Karbala, depicting the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his companions. Emotional scenes, including the farewell of Hazrat Abulfazl Abbas to his family and his final meeting with Imam Hussein, moved many attendees to tears.

Following the ceremony, thousands of people assembled on Faikbey Avenue for a commemorative march. Participants marched while performing traditional mourning rituals, including chest-beating and self-flagellation with chains, accompanied by elegies and lamentations. The procession continued along GAMP Avenue and Cumhuriyet Avenue before concluding at Ashura Square, where prayers and commemorations for the martyrs of Karbala were held.
